Music
At Overchurch Junior School all children gain a firm understanding of what music is through listening to and appreciating all types of music. Rehearsing and performing in solo and ensemble contexts, using voices and musical instruments, is also of equal importance.
Children are encouraged to learn musical instruments outside of the classroom and there are various opportunities throughout the school year to perform to a variety of audiences, thus building confidence and improving ability.
Music should be viewed as a subject that can enhance all children’s lives and allow for freedom of expression in a sometimes hectic and pressurised world.
