The Governing Body

School governors are people from the school's community who make a positive contribution towards all children's education.  School governors are similar to a board of directors and make decisions about how the school is run.  Governors have legal duties, powers and responsibilities.  They can only act together as part of a group, they cannot act individually.

Each year the governors have to prepare a report which is sent to all parents and discussed at a meeting for all parents.  School governors are chosen from the following:

Parent governors are elected by parents whose children attend the school and are your representatives on the governing body.  Many other of our governors are also parents of children at at the school but are appointed in a different capacity.  If you wish to speak to a parent governor please leave your telephone number at the school office and you will be contacted.  If anything is bothering you at all please make an appointment to see the Headteacher.  Things can usually be settled amicably in this way.  If not, you have the right to appeal to the governing body.  To do this please write in confidence to the Chair of Governors at the school.
